Kenneth B. Elwood

Ken Elwood has been a resident of Portage, Porter County, Indiana since the age of 5.  He attended Concordia University-River Forest on a full ride football scholarship.  He graduated from Indiana University in 1991 from the renowned Kelly School of Business with a BS in Marketing.  He attended and graduated from Valparaiso University Law School in 1994.

He began his employment with the Firm of Buscio, Pera, Kramer & Nowak.  He joined John Rhame in 1995 and became a partner wherein the firm of Rhame & Elwood was created in the year 2000.  Attorney Elwood has served as a Deputy Prosecutor and currently serves as a Porter County Public Defender.  He has represented many institutional and governmental clients throughout his practice.  Specifically, he currently or has in the past represented NorthShore Health Centers, City of Portage, Porter County Plan Commission, and Porter County BZA.  He has also served in the following capacities:  Board Member, Portage Youth Basketball, Portage Little League, President, Portage Township YMCA; Chairman Portage Township/NorthShore Health Centers Capital Campaign; Member Porter County Community Foundation, Past Chairman of Porter County Democrat Party-1st District; Member Real Life Church; Portage Rotary, Portage Kiwanis, Current President Portage Township Education Foundation; Member Porter County Democrat Party; President of President Democrat Party from 1995-2004; Board Member of the Dan Condron Memorial Scholarship Fund; and he donates his time to a variety of other not-for-profit organizations.  He is the father of 4 children and spends most of his spare time coaching them in youth basketball, little league, or wrestling.

Attorney Elwood concentrates his practice in the areas of Governmental Representation, Business and Business Litigation, and Criminal Law.  He currently serves as City Attorney for the City of Portage.
